About Me

Anna McMorrin MP walking her dog, Cadi, with trees and cars in the background.

I have a constituency office in Cardiff North, which is located in Whitchurch village. We handle thousands of pieces of casework every year, helping constituents with everything from welfare benefits to business support.

Last year, we completed more than 6,000 pieces of casework. We always try to send an initial reply within a week, but it usually takes longer to complete a case.

We will prioritise casework according to urgency. That means time-sensitive issues affecting my constituents’ lives will always be treated as a priority.

If you have sent a policy or campaign question, please rest assured I will read your email but you should expect a longer waiting time for a response.

What is the role of a minister?

In 2025, I was appointed as a minister in the Wales Office. This gives me the opportunity to travel around Wales, talking to people about the work of the UK Labour Government in Wales and meeting amazing community leaders.

In addition to my role as an MP, my role as a minister means I am also a member of the UK Labour Government.

I work closely with ministers in the Welsh Government, who have responsibility for devolved issues like health, education and public transport in Wales.

I’m Anna, your MP for Cardiff North. I was first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2019 and 2024.

Previously, I worked in the Welsh Government and public affairs. I specialised in environmental policy and helped to represent smaller nations, like Wales, in the Paris Climate Agreement.

I will always be grateful to Cardiff North as the place where I raised my family. You might see me out and about with my Cocker Spaniel, Cadi!

In 2024, I was appointed as a government whip. In this role, I helped to organise the parliamentary work of Welsh Labour MPs and the Department for Business and Trade.

In 2025, I was appointed as a Minister in the Wales Office. This role gives me the privilege of travelling around Wales, talking to people about the work of the UK Labour Government here and meeting amazing community leaders.

I finish every week back in Cardiff North, talking to residents, businesses, local groups and schools.

What is the role of an MP?

A Member of Parliament (MP) represents their constituency in the UK Parliament. There are 650 constituencies across the UK and 650 MPs.

MPs spend part of the week in Westminster and part of the week in their constituency. I usually travel to Westminster on a Monday and come back to Cardiff on Thursday.
