Cost of living

In April 2026, we took a number of steps to ease the cost of living for people here in Cardiff North.

• Increased the National Living Wage, worth an extra £900 per year for the lowest paid workers over the age of 21.

• Increased the National Minimum Wage, worth an extra £1500 per year for the lowest paid workers between 18 and 20 years old.

• Scrapped the two-child cap, helping more than 1,300 children in Cardiff North.

• Expanded statutory sick pay to the lowest earners by removing the lower earnings limit.

• Reduced energy price cap, saving the average household £117 on their annual bills.

• Increased the state pension by up to £575 per year.
